Wilkes Community Partnership for Children has a
recognition program for child care teachers based on observations by the
Partnership staff of outstanding achievement in child care. Each month a
teacher is presented with a door plaque with the teacher’s name in appreciation
for the dedication to the children they serve. In February, Wilkes
Community Partnership for Children recognized Mrs. Mary Mounce and Mrs. Tory
Anderson. These teachers were recognized because of their dedication to the Raising
a Reader program. Raising a
Reader, is a daily book sharing program between parents and their young
children, implemented in 4 and 5 star facilities. Mrs. Mounce and Mrs. Anderson
are NCPREK teachers at CC Wright Elementary. Mrs. Mounce has a passion for teaching and
being an advocate for children and families. She has a love of literacy and
shares that passion with children in her classroom. Mrs. Anderson has worked
with Wilkes County Schools for 13 years, with 12 of those years in the NCPREK
program. She loves working with young children and families. Amy Mathis, Early
Literacy Coordinator, stated “the teachers developed new ideas to make the
program exciting and fun for families and kept the Partnership informed of
their progress. I am always welcome in their classrooms
and enjoy reading to their students.”
Wilkes Community Partnership for Children
appreciates their dedication to serving children in Wilkes County. Wilkes Community
Partnership for Children, a local Smart Start agency, is a United Way partner
agency.
